CSCI and The Healthcare Commisson have published a review of Community Mental Health services. This is called ‘No voice, no choice’.

Although learning disability is not specifically mentioned the findings are relevant.

The key findings were:

1. Many people were not involved in decision making
2. Too few people were not receiving a written care plan
3. People did not know who their care co-ordinator was
4. Not enought reviews were carried out
5. Too few people were involved in decisions about medication
6. More focus was needed on physical health
7. People needed help with employment
8. Problems with dual diagnosis (which in this case means drug and alcohol problems)
